Borrowed tools, instruments and cameras offer room to experiment, with branch-specific pickup and a two-week loan.

A project can be worth trying even when owning the equipment would make little sense. Sacramento Public Library's Library of Things offers a way to test an interest, complete a modest task or discover what a tool can do before deciding whether it deserves permanent shelf space.
The collection includes household and yard tools, musical instruments and photography resources. Browse the current catalog and reserve the actual item you need; examples on a program page do not establish immediate availability.
The published guidelines allow eligible cardholders over eighteen with less than $5 in fees to borrow items for two weeks, without renewal. Up to three different items may be reserved, including current loans, while the checkout limit remains two. Confirm the pickup location and wait for the ready notice where required.
Return an item to the same location during open hours. Walnut Grove's collection uses a stop-in availability arrangement, while other listed branches provide reserved pickup. Plan a small enough project to complete, clean and return the equipment on time. Trying one camera technique or practice exercise can be a worthwhile result without turning the loan into a rushed major undertaking.
